Clintons plan to expand nursing homes in states that have adopted new regulations
In response to growing concerns about the quality of care at nursing homes, the Clinton Foundation has announced plans to expand its network of nursing homes throughout the United States.
The move is the result of the Trump Administration’s recent decision to expand the definition of “compassionate caregiving” and other regulations.
The Clinton Foundation will be expanding its network by opening new nursing homes and setting up additional programs that support the nursing home community.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the new programs will “enhance access to quality care and provide resources for individuals and families in need.”
The announcement comes as the Clinton administration has implemented a range of new regulations in states where Clinton Foundation facilities are currently operating, including new rules requiring the Foundation to obtain an approval from the state Department of Health and Human Services and new regulations regarding where and how staff can access and share information.
“The Clinton Foundation is committed to providing compassionate care and supports the health and wellbeing of our communities, and we hope the new initiatives will further that mission,” Clinton Foundation Executive Director Margo Caraway said in a statement.
“The new initiatives we’re announcing today are designed to ensure that all families in the United, and especially in states with a history of poor nursing home outcomes, are provided the care and support they deserve, while maintaining the foundation of a caring, supportive, and compassionate environment.”
The Foundation will also be launching a new partnership with the California Nurses Association, which is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality and accessibility of the state’s nursing homes.
The announcement is part of a broader initiative to expand access to care, which has been a focal point of the Clinton campaign for decades.
In 2016, Clinton announced that she was launching a task force to study ways to expand care and services for nursing homes to make it easier for them to maintain a healthy and dignified environment.
While it is unclear whether or not the expansion will take place at any of the five Clinton Foundation sites, the foundation is already expanding its services in a number of states that are now accepting new residents.
The Foundation is also in the process of recruiting additional staff for a number staff positions.
